THERE’S less than two weeks to go until Saints kick off their 2017 Betfred Super League campaign with a huge clash against Leeds Rhinos at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
Two giants of Super League will lock horns on Thursday February 9 (8:00pm) and all the indications are it will be a cracker.
The sides have thirteen Super league titles between them and have strengthened significantly in the off season.
Your Saints have brought in International props Luke Douglas and Adam Walker as well as Australian Centre Ryan Morgan who will be looking to strike up a dangerous partnership with his wing partner.
James Roby will receive support in the hooking role from the experienced Tommy Lee and there will be a brand new half-back partnership with Matty Smith returning to his hometown Club after a hugely successful stint with Wigan.
Tommy Makinson also is back from a long-term injury that saw him miss out on the bulk of the 2016 campaign.
Our opponents Leeds Rhinos will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing season.
They have some new recruits in the form of Australian Hooker Matt Parcell and youngsters as Jack Ormondroyd and Cory Aston – but the bulk of their side is a host of seasoned veteran players including Danny Maguire, Rob Burrow and Jamie Jones-Buchanan who are well known to the Saints faithful.
As excitement and anticipation is building towards the start of the season the Rhinos have already suffered their first defeat of the pre-season with a 30-6 turnaround against the Wakefield Wildcats on Boxing Day.
Saints continue their preparations with friendlies against Widnes Vikings and Castleford Tigers on Sunday 22 and 29 January respectively.
Tickets for the home opener start from just £22.50 for adults and £10 for under 16s.
There will be a host of pre-match activity and entertainment with more details to follow shortly!
