Catalans Trip Excites Taia

ZEB Taia has settled into life at the Saints and is now looking forward to continuing his promising start for the club.

The 32-year-old joined from the Gold Coast Titans last month and has featured in our last two games.

“It’s been good so far,” he said. “The club has helped me to settle in and my family arrived yesterday.

“I got my Visa pretty quickly and was here ready for the game against Wakefield. It was good to get some miles under the legs as it was my first game of the season, and I felt better at Hull.

“I’m just building week by week now and will get into the swing of things over the next couple of weeks.

“As a team we are building and the boys are working hard. We worked hard against Hull defensively but we lacked skill and execution with the ball and were defending back to back sets as a result.

“We found ourselves defending our line too much and if we execute better in attack then we will win those games. We can’t keep turning over easy ball like that because it wastes energy.”

Zeb returns to familiar surroundings this Saturday when Saints travel to Perpignan to take on Catalans.

He spent three years with the Dragons before returning to the NRL at the end of 2015.

“I have some good memories from my time at Catalans,” he added. “It will be weird playing against my old teammates but I will treat it as any other game.

“I suppose I’ve got the upper hard at the moment because I know what is coming.

“I am looking forward to the challenge.”
