Holbrook: We Missed An Opportunity

Justin Holbrook felt Saints missed an opportunity to climb the table following their loss at Castleford.

Despite leading for the majority of the game, they succumbed to a late Tom Holmes try.

“It was a missed opportunity for sure,” he said. “Castleford had the luxury of resting players because of where they are sitting, they have earned that right and for us to fall just short is really costly for where we are sitting on the table.

“We knew it would be a tough game. We tried hard but it was disappointing because we’d worked on a few things on how we were going to improve our game and unfortunately we didn’t do those today,

“I can’t fault the effort; they weren’t at full strength and haven’t lost here for a while for no reason. They are a good footy side and we saw that today.

“But we have to improve and get better.”

Saints welcomed Jonny Lomax into the fold after the best part of three months out and Holbrook was pleased with his contribution.

“Theo Fages has had a couple of head knocks so was rested today,” he continued. “Jonny went good, it was great to have him back and he will be better for the run.

“It is important we move on to next week.”
