LMS Looking Forward

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook is expecting nothing less than a tough game when Saints travel to Huddersfield on Friday.

Like Saints, the Giants are in good form and are looking to climb the table.

“Huddersfield are putting a lot of points on a lot of teams and to come back from the South of France with a great victory shows how well they are doing,” he said. “They will be looking to this game and looking to kick on. It should be a good game.

“They have some really good strike players. Danny Brough is always talking, is very passionate and wants his team to play well. He is very influential with a good kicking game.

“They are a very good outfit.”

Saints’ upturn in form – three wins in four – is based on solid defence and it is something Louie says they are priding themselves on.

“Defence is important to us; the old saying is right, defence wins games,” he added. “We know we can score tries on the edges and in the middle. We have strike for points but we know we can stop teams consistently on our own line.

“We got ourselves into a dark hole earlier in the season. We had some close losses and then some big ones. Justin coming in has revitalised us back on to what we need to do as a group.

“He has made the game plan simple and now we have to improve.”
