Justin Holbrook is naturally hoping history repeats itself when Saints take on Hull FC this Friday.
The last time the two sides met, his side recorded a 45-0 win at the Magic Weekend.
But whilst a carbon copy performance would be most welcome, a good win in an” important match” is all that is required.
“It was a great game up there at Magic Weekend and it would be nice to get another good result this Friday,” he said. “Hull have shown they are a good side. They came home strong against Cas and have been playing well most of the year.
“We played well at Magic and we will need to produce that again this Friday to beat them.
“It is an important game for us. We fell just short last Friday and it would have been a great win considering we ran without a half back for most of the game and lost a player to the sinbin.
“If we get a win we are still in the mix.”
Saints will be without Jon Wilkin through suspension and Matty Smith this Friday.
Mark Percival will return whilst Danny Richardson is likely to come into contention too.
“Danny has a good chance, I like him as a player,” Justin added. “He has played strongly in the Reserves over recent weeks and had a run for Sheffield in the Championship on Sunday too.
“All along I have said anything could happen because there are so many uncertainties in our game. It is such an even competition. I know we need to string some wins together and you don’t know what other teams will do. So for people to say you’re gone, you won’t make the four, I totally don’t get that at all.
“We have to win games to give ourselves a chance, but it’s not like other teams won’t suffer in terms of form too.
“I thought we played one of our best games on Friday since I have been here. We looked pretty good, but Leeds were just as good.
“We showed a lot of character but just couldn’t get the win.”
