Of all the first team squad, the player who probably isn’t as well known as the rest is Matthew Costello.
‘Cossy’ has been promoted by head coach Justin Holbrook after impressing in the Academy.
The 19-year-old joined the club from Orrell St James and has been with us since the age of 14.
“He is a natural footballer,” Head Coach Justin Holbrook said. “In the Academy he’s played full back, wing, centre and stand-off. I love that versatility in his game and he runs as hard as anyone.
“He will have to work hard to get a run, and that might not happen this year, but I like that versatility about him.”
Matty went on tour with the Academy in 2015 and played a significant part in the unbeaten 2016 Academy side.
