Holbrook: Wounded Catalans Will Be Physical

Saints travel to Catalans on Saturday looking to back up their opening day win over Castleford.

They head to the Stade Gilbert Brutus reporting no fresh injury concerns from that victory with both Alex Walmsley and Ryan Morgan expected to be available.

“Ryan has to go through the various protocols but should be ok,” Head Coach Justin Holbrook. “Alex was a little tight when he first went on but he should be fine also.

“Catalans will be disappointed with how they played against Widnes and, as this is their first home game, we are expecting a really physical side. It will be a tough, physical game over there.

“We’re going over there in a day which is a big challenge but it has to be something we look forward to. We want to go there and get the job done.”

Saints sent a select side to North Wales last Sunday and Holbrook was there to see several first teamers get a run out alongside a number of top age Academy players.

“They did well,” he continued. “Adam Swift in particular played well too. He has been fantastic throughout pre-season and the friendlies and is probably unlucky not to be in the side.

“I don’t want to be chopping and changing every week. Part of the side I pick will be based on who we play and what is required; I went into round one like that.

“I wouldn’t say the team in locked in though, but when you play as well as you did on Friday then you aren’t going to leave too many players out.”

Tickets for seven of Saints’ Betfred Super League fixtures are now on sale from the Ticket Office at the Totally Wicked Stadium, by calling 01744 455052 or online here.
