Justin Holbrook admits the thought of Saints’ last visit to Huddersfield will be at the back of his mind when the two sides meet this Friday.
Saints were beaten 24-16 at the John Smith’s Stadium in June and the head coach is hoping to avoid a repeat.
“Rick Stone has done a good job and the last time we were there it was a tough night for us,” he said. “I am confident in our side, but we will have to make sure we are well prepped to play there.
“They have strong runners as well as Ryan Hinchliffe at loose forward and Jake Mamo plays with a lot energy too. They are a well-balanced side.
“Then you have Danny Brough. It can be hard to stop someone who has been kicking so well for so long. You have to try and limit how well they do that and also not get too worried about it either.
“It is definitely a strength to their game and something we will work on positionally, but you just have to deal with it and get on with the game.
“We have started both our matches well and have to continue to do that. Against Castleford, we started well and maintained it and last time out we did the same and dealt with the Dragons’ pressure ‘on the run’.
“If we can continue to take the right options of when to play and when not play then it will put us in a good stead for the rest of the season.”
Justin named his 19 man squad yesterday with Morgan Knowles missing out through suspension.
He said: “I’d expect Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook to play that loose forward role with Kyle Amor coming back in. We’d like to have Morgan out there but there’s nothing we can do about that.
“Last week was more about recovery for us and getting ourselves right from the trip to Catalans. We trained all week but our real focus on this Friday’s game began on Monday.
“We wanted to keep it in the context of how we would normally prepare for a game.”
