Saints head into Friday’s game with Salford ‘three from three’ but know a lot of hard work lies ahead.
Justin Holbrook’s men host the Red Devils in the Betfred Super League aiming to keep up their good start to the season.
But they’ll face a side that got their first win last week against Hull KR and who pushed Wakefield close.
“We know they are a good team,” Holbrook said. “They played well last week to beat Hull KR and did the week before too. They are a tough side to face and we understand that.
“Last time at home against them it was a dramatic and brilliant finish but we don’t want it to be that close this year, or to find ourselves that far behind.
“We’ve made a good start and we’re happy with that but know there is a long way to go. Friday’s game was another tough one and we came away with an important win.
“Huddersfield are hard to play there; they have experienced players who made it hard for us. But full credit to our boys to come out with the win.
“I was happy with our pre-season and we are continuing that hard work now. The boys are working hard and are getting the rewards.”
Holbrook doesn’t expect to make any changes ahead of the match with last week’s 18th and 19th men having to bide their time.
“It helps that we’re fit and healthy and we’re not planning to make changes,” he continued. “Matty Lees has been playing good minutes in the Championship. He is a great young player who just needs to get more game time and keep knocking on the door.
“Matty Smith wants to play and I know it must be hard for him. But he has been great at training and very supportive of the players.
“He has handled the situation well and that is pleasing.
