Peyroux: Stay Grounded

Saints may be top of the Betfred Super League but Dom Peyroux says it’s important they stay grounded.

Ahead of Thursday’s trip to Salford (7:45pm), the second rower believes that hard work and being humble will be important if they are to be successful.

“There’s good vibes around the club and confidence is high but we know the trip to Salford will be tough,” he said. “It’s important we stay grounded, be humble and get on with it.  Standards are high here and we have to keep on turning up.”

Saints certainly did that on Friday as they ran in 12 tries to beat Huddersfield 66-4 – Peyroux laying on the pass for one of Jonny Lomax’s three tries.

“We knew that we needed to put a good effort in, complete our sets and get through it,” he continued. “If we did that then we knew our attack would flow. It was about concentrating on our basics; the one per centers and that would win us the game.

“I thought Luke Douglas was outstanding and it was good to see Kyle Amor get over the line as well. Everyone put in the effort and we came away with the result.

“We focused on ourselves and what we needed to do to bounce back from Sunday’s loss at Wakefield. I thought we did that well. Good teams don’t lose twice in a row and that is credit to the boys.”
