Player welfare is a hot subject for all sports at the moment and at Saints we continue to lead the way.
James Roby, Alex Walmsley and Luke Douglas joined Alex Gerrard and Matt Whitley from Widnes in looking at life off the field with a high impact classroom based session around Professional Skills Development.
Delivered by Development Beyond Learning, the players were guided through an interactive workshop that tackled topics of ‘Understanding You – Beliefs and Behaviours’.
It explored their talents, passions and values and culminated in them writing a Personal Vision of their futures away from the pitch.
“Career transition is a notoriously difficult aspect of a professional athlete’s life and James, Luke and Alex are actively involved in preparing for that process,” Neil Kilshaw, Saints Welfare & Education Manager said. “It was fantastic opportunity to be able to draw on the expertise of Clodagh and Katrina from Development Beyond Learning.
“It helped enable the players explore how they will be able to utilise those skills developed as professional athletes and apply them to the corporate world.”
