Holbrook: Looking Forward To The Challenge

Familiar foes they may already be but Justin Holbrook is taking nothing for granted when Saints travel to Castleford on Thursday.

His side have beaten the Tigers twice this season and will no doubt be favourites once again at the Mend-a-Hose Jungle.

But the gaffer says Saints will have to play at their very best to get anything out of the game.

“Castleford certainly bounced back from their cup loss with a great win on Saturday,” he said. “They were really dominant over Leeds. They will put up a good test and we know we will have play really well.

“They may play slightly differently with not having Luke Gale but they still have good halves in Jamie Ellis and Jake Trueman – and they showed that at the weekend against Leeds.

“They are a very dangerous team, we know that and we are once again looking forward to the challenge.”

Saints head into the match two points clear at the top of the Betfred Super League after beating Widnes 38-18 at Magic.

Holbrook admits it wasn’t a vintage performance but one he was happy to win.

“I said going into the game that Widnes hadn’t been winning but had been pushing sides close,” he added. “We knew it would be a tough game and that is what it proved to be. There wasn’t much in it in the first half but I thought we were good in the second.

“To keep them scoreless was pleasing and I was happy to get the win.

“You can’t be at your very best every week but to end up winning 38-18 is still a great result. We will take the win and move on.”
