Saints head to Leeds this Friday looking to secure their first win over the Rhinos since the opening day of last season.
Whilst the Super League fortunes of both sides are somewhat different so far this year, Justin Holbrook knows that the Champions always raise their game against his side.
“Obviously Leeds have been inconsistent this year and they won’t be happy with where they sit,” he said. ”But every time we play them I look at the games beforehand … and then they play so much better against us.
“They do a good job on us so we have to plan for them to be at their absolute best. Anything less is a bonus for us.
“We have some bumps but hopefully everyone will be ok. We’ll get a check on Kyle (Amor) too.
“Jonny (Lomax) and Wilko didn’t play on Friday but we still had a good day. They should be back this week. Wilko has been crook for a while but still played really well against Hull FC whilst Jonny’s knee flared up a little before the game.
“He could have played but it made sense to give him a rest.”
Lomax, alongside teammates Tommy Makinson, Luke Thompson, James Roby and Mark Percival, were all selected in England’s 19-man squad for next Saturday’s test against New Zealand in Denver.
Recognition well deserved according to their Head Coach.
“I’m thrilled that Tommy and Luke have been called up,” he added. “It is great news and well deserved. I am happy for the other three players too, in particular Percy because he only got one game in the World Cup.
“They’ve picked the side on form and I think it is a good side. It is great for us to have so many in it. If you’re playing well for your club team you generally get picked in rep teams. It is great for the club and hopefully they can play well.”
