Four Saints Named In England Side

Tommy Makinson is set to make his England debut when they face New Zealand on Saturday.

The winger has been selected in Wayne Bennett’s team alongside Jonny Lomax, James Roby and Mark Percival.

Luke Thompson sadly misses out.

Saints has five representatives in England’s 19-man squad with James Graham also coming through the Academy system here.

Saints Academy Head Coach Derek Traynor said: “The club is really proud to provide six players for the England squad.

“It shows our system’s consistency over the years to produce players like James Roby and James Graham, right through to Luke Thompson.

“James Graham was with the club from 12 years of age whilst James Roby signed pro terms with us in our Foundation Academy.

“Mark Percival has been with us from 14, Tommy signed into our Academy from St Judes and Lomax and Thompson have been here since the age of 11.

“We will carry on working hard towards developing future first team players and setting high standards so they can progress to becoming full internationals.

“We believe there are already a number in our system that will eventually reach these same high standards and represent their country.”

Graham will make his 40th England appearance almost 10 years to the day since his first England appearance against France in June 2008.

Of the current squad, James Roby and Sam Burgess also played in that game.

Hull FC’s Jake Connor will also make his debut.
