St Helens Schools Finals

De La Salle High School scooped a double at the Totally Wicked Stadium today.

They took on Cowley International College in the Year 8 Eric Chisnall and Year 10 Keiron Cunningham Finals.

Year 8 Eric Chisnall Final

The Year 8 final was a fantastic spectacle with two teams of a similar skill level both battling it out to get their hands on the Eric Chisnall trophy.

De La Salle scored two tries early on to gain a comfortable lead and they went on to control the half to lead 20-12.

But Cowley hit back in the second half and dominated to go ahead 22-20.

However, De La Salle didn’t want to give up the game without a fight and managed to score a try in the dying stages of the game.

Cowley tried their hardest to get back – and nearly scored in the corner – but De La Salle held on to win 26-22.

Year 10 Keiron Cunningham Final

Like the first game, the Year 10 Keiron Cunningham Final was also a brilliant contest with both teams giving it their all.

Cowley took the lead in the first 10 minutes and looked very assured with the 18-4 advantage they had at half time.

But De La Salle came out fired up and scored three tries in 10 minutes to even up the contest.

Both teams looked fatigued in the searing heat but it was De La Salle that made their pressure pay first before they sealed it with two tries in four minutes.

Final score De La Salle 30 Cowley International College 18.

Everyone at Saints would like to congratulate both sides for two super fixtures.
