Jonny Lomax has been named as Saints’ Player of the Month for July.
He was awarded with the accolade at our Networking Event, which is sponsored by Stapleton Derby.
The full back said: “It’s nice to get personal recognition but you’ve got to thank the lads as well because that’s what it’s all about. You want the awards for the team.”
He also spoke about how the team are aiming to bounce back from Sunday’s defeat ahead of tomorrow’s Super 8s clash against Huddersfield.
“With the disappointment on Sunday, it’s sometimes hard to back up when you’ve got a quick turnaround,” he added. “I think it’s best for us as we have no time to feel sorry for ourselves. You’ve got to move on, dust yourself off and go again.
“We know Huddersfield are going to bring their best but we need to get back to our own standards and look forward.”
With Saints being part of the town’s bid to host games at the 2021 World Cup, Lomax also spoke about his personal international experience.
Jonny said: “For myself, with some of the injuries I’ve had in the past, I don’t really look too far ahead. I just take it game by game.
“I’m focused on St Helens week to week and I’m just going to try to do my best here and if international recognition comes at the end of the year, that would be fantastic.”
Next, guest speakers Gary Kilgannon and Peter Hale from club partners Biffa spoke to delegates about their new partnership with the club and how they are aiming to improve recycling methods within the Totally Wicked Stadium.
The event is held every month at the Totally Wicked Stadium during the Betfred Super League season.
The Player of the Month is nominated by the first team coaching staff.
