Saints Represent!

Congratulations to players from our Academy and Women’s teams who were part of a festival of rugby league this weekend.

Seven of our under 19s side were part of the Lancashire Academy team that beat Yorkshire 36-6, whilst nine of our women’s team played for Lancashire in their 16-10 win over the White Rose.

Four of our Saints Women’s side also played in the under 19s origin game at Featherstone Lions.

Elsewhere, Jumah Sambou and Lewis Foster were in the England under 16s squad that beat a strong Wales side featuring fellow Saints Scholarship teammates Harvey and Keenan McDaid 26-4.

Lancashire v Yorkshire Under 19s: 36-6

Saints’ Tom Nisbet, Josh Simm, John Hutchins, Jack Welsby, Jake Wingfield, Matty Foster and Sam Royle all started for Ian Talbot’s side with Foster, Welsby and Hutchings crossing for tries.

Joe Sharratt was ‘18th’ man.

Lancashire v Yorkshire Women: 16-10

Katie-May Williams scored the winning try for Lancashire in a closely fought contest that was tied 6-6 at half time.

Naomi Williams, Faye Gaskin, Zoe Harris, Vicky Whitfield, Tara Jones, Emily Rudge and Channy Crowl started the match with Sarah Lovejoy coming off the bench.

Wales v England Under 16s: 4-26

England exacted revenge on Wales at the Stebonheath Park on Saturday.

Jumah Sambou started for England with Lewis Foster coming off the bench – Harvey McDaid and Keenan playing for Wales at full back and hooker respectively.

Lancashire v Yorkshire Under 19s Women: 16-54

Pip Birchall captained a young side that also featured her teammates Charlotte Hill, Rhianna Burke and Eleanor Dainty.
