Justin Holbrook was pleased Saints came through an "awkward" match with Castleford on Friday night.
“It was a hard game for both sides tonight and it showed,” he said. “Both sides weren’t near their best and not at full strength but in the end I am happy with the performance. It was great to be able to keep defending the way we did.
“It was an awkward game for both sides with what is coming up so I was just happy we came away with a good win. We now look forward to next week.”
He continued: “The young lads did well when they came on. Jack Ashworth and Matty Lees have been great whilst James Bentley had another run.
“Matty Costello played at centre and then full back. The young guys have really stepped up for us which has been great and it’s been good to give them the opportunity to play in the first team.
“It’s also important that we still win when they are in the side too. They have done a great job and we have come away with a few wins.”
