Fresh from scooping three honours at our end of season awards night, Luke Thompson was named in the 2018 Dream Team and selected in the England squad this week.
It’s been a stellar year for the 23-year-old prop who has been at the hub of everything the Saints pack have done this year.
Six tries, 3,633 metres, 440 carries, 770 tackles … the stats speak for themselves but ‘Thommo’ knows there is still work to do.
“It’s been a great couple of weeks for me,” he said. “I never really expected to pick up those awards at our end of season presentation. I knew I’d had a good season but never expected it as there are a number of great players at St Helens.
“As much as I didn’t expect them, I was very pleased and then to get picked in the Dream Team is great. Again, it wasn’t something I was expecting.
“It would mean everything to play for England, it is one of my goals and if I got the chance I would take it with both hands.
“But the season isn’t finished and we have a couple of weeks left to go. I’ll continue to do what I do; do the same things in preparation and work hard off the field.”
Luke comes into Thursday’s game fit and ready to go after being rested against Castleford last Friday.
It wasn’t something he’s used to, but it had some bonuses!
“It was a bit different!” he added. “I’ve only missed one game this year but it was Justin’s call, he’s the boss! It was nice to wake up on Saturday and not be sore for a change and I’m now ready for Thursday.
“It’s a massive game for the club. We played them two weeks ago and got a good win but we’re expecting a different team than the one we played that day.
“They will have looked at where they can get better and we’re ready for the best possible Warrington side to come up against us.”
The game kicks off at 7:45pm at the Totally Wicked Stadium and you can secure your spot by calling into the Ticket Office, tel: 01744 455 052 or online here.
Discounts are available for 2018 Members but you have to take them up by 5pm on Wednesday.
