All of the first team have been training hard in preparation for the new season with the first pre-season outing for Jonny Lomax's Testimonial this weekend.
“The new boys have been training hard and settling in really well” said the Head Coach “They all bring something new to the team that should help us get over the line.”
“Coote has great experience that is needed in big games, as well as a calm head. When you combine that with a great kicking game he can give us another edge to our performance”
Kevin Naiqama, Joseph Paulo and Joe Batchelor all seem to be settling in to their new home, showing great signs throughout pre-season but it’s a familiar face who is once again impressing.
“One of our best trainers has got to be Morgan Knowles; he consistently wants to improve and has always been that type of player, with having a longer pre-season this year he has really worked hard at his game.
Last year we saw the breakthrough of academy prospects Matty Lees and Jack Ashworth and when asked who will be next to make the step up Justin said.
“Aside from the main boys it’s hard to see who will be the breakout this year. It’s hard to make some room for them; the likes of Matty and Jack are a real credit to the Saints Academy, but one for the future has got to be Jack Welsby.
“He made an appearance at the back end of year but has been working hard and shows all the signs of a bright future.
Jonny Lomax will be taking centre stage this weekend in the pre-season friendly vs Hull FC (2pm Kick Off)
“Jonny has had a brilliant career to date and hopefully we get a great turnout on Saturday to not just see the new boys in action but all of the lads”
