St. Helens Wheelchair Rugby League fixtures for the 2019 season have been released and it all kicks off this Sunday 17th March as Saints face off against The Argonauts at Sutton Leisure Centre (1pm).
The fixture announcement comes after Sheffield’s Ponds Forge International Sports Centre hosted the 2019 Wheelchair RL Season Launch Event on Saturday, March 9.
Sheffield will host both Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup semi-finals in 2021 and clubs from as far and wide as North Wales Crusaders and Dundee Dragons descended on the city as preparations for the all-new Wheelchair Super League, Wheelchair Championship and Wheelchair Development League stepped up.
The first-ever ‘Wheelchair 4s Festival’ also took place which was an opportunity for everyone from beginners to international stars to share the Wheelchair Rugby League pitch in a showcase of the game to celebrate the start of the 2019 season.
There will be 3 levels of competition – WhRL Super League, Championship and Development. On top of this there will be International opportunities for England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales that schedule in the season structure.
Wheelchair Rugby League is the most inclusive sport in the world, with disabled, able-bodied male and female athletes all free to compete together at all levels.
