Saints kept the pressure on at the top of the Academy table with a seven try defeat of the Wakefield Wildcats.
Again shorn of Jack Welsby on first team duty in the South of France, Saints gave a debut to Harvey McDaid off the bench and a first run out in the starting line-up for Harry Brooks.
Saints got off to a wonderful start with Jumah Sambou scoring after only 3 minutes. Josh Simm increased the lead with the first of his brace after 13 minutes with Lewis Dodd converting this effort.
The Wildcats hit back straight away however, with lively standoff Tom Ashen scoring and converting his own try.
Josh Simm’s second converted effort gave Saints back their breathing space, mad even easier on the stroke of oranges with a Matty Foster try.
The Wildcats responded and closed the gap within the first five minutes of the second period before Saints were reduced to 12 men with the sending off of Simm.
Another Wildcats try and Saints would be starting to look over their shoulder, but any worries were calmed as Kye Siyani scored his first four pointer of the campaign converted again by Dodd.
But back came the home side again scoring virtually straight away to keep in touch before just short of the hour mark any Saints nerves were calmed.
Firstly Dodd slotted over a penalty goal before Ryan Horne scored Saints sixth try of the afternoon again converted by Dodd.
The scrum half kicked another penalty with ten minutes to go and then rounded off a masterful display with his sixth goal converting John Hutchings try.
Often a tricky place to go to this was a big for Saints especially playing most of the second half with a man down. Harvey McDaid made a great impression on debut and ‘old stagers’ Matty Foster, Jake Wingfield and Captain Sam Royle led the Saints home.
