Injury update on Thompson and Makinson

Luke Thompson will be out of action for at least another five weeks after a specialist confirmed syndesmosis of the ankle, whilst there is positive news for Tommy Makinson.

The specialist confirmed last week that the explosive prop forward would be out for a total of around six weeks and Head Coach Justin Holbrook broke the news in his post match press conference following the win over Catalans on Sunday.

“Thommo will be out for around six weeks from last week. He has a high ankle sprain which they call syndesmosis now. So between him Percy [Mark Percival] and Louie [McCarthy-Scarsbrook] they will all be around the six week mark which is when we are looking at getting those three back.”

On the positive side, Holbrook revealed Tommy Makinson should be fit for the trip to Hull KR on Sunday after he missed out last week with a back spasm.

“He will be fine [for the game against Hull KR]. His back stiffened up last Monday and couldn’t play against Catalans, but it gave us a chance to freshen up the team.”

Holbrook will reveal more on who else may return for the trip to KCOM Craven Park in his preview of the game which will be live on Saintsrlfc.com later this week.

Next up for Saints at the Totally Wicked Stadium is a Heaven vs Hell clash with Salford Red Devils on Friday May 17th with a 7:45pm kick off. You can buy tickets for the game online here, or by calling into the Ticket Office at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
