Saints launch Junior Disability team

Saints Community Development Foundation (SCDF) are delighted to announce that they have launched a brand new Junior Disability team, in partnership with YMCA Y Sports.

Saints Community Development Foundation are the only rugby league club foundation in the country to announce the junior team for those with learning and physical disabilities between the ages of 5 and 14.

Training sessions take place every Thursday evening, from 5 until 6pm at Ruskin Drive Sports Complex.

Gareth Foster,  Saints Disability Coach said: “I believe this is a fantastic initiative. We are always looking for new players to join us and being able to bring these sessions to younger members of our community is great.

“It’s brilliant to be a part of the ever growing sport of Disability Rugby League, helping the sport develop and move forward. I hope to see new faces at our sessions in the near future and I cannot wait to get started.”

We will be aided in this fantastic new initiative by YMCA Y Sports, Mark Jennings, St.Helens Sports Development and YMCA Y Sports Project Manager said:

“It is great for us to be a partner in the delivery of the Junior disability sessions, carrying on from our involvement in the initial squad and project”.

“Our staff love being involved and it is a great opportunity for them to challenge themselves as well as the players.
The sessions and the squad are a perfect example of Y Sports looking to be Inclusive for all and we thank the Saints Community Development Foundation for the chance to be involved.”
