Saints have won the League Leaders Shield for a second consecutive year!
We stretched our lead at the top of Super League to 12 points with Friday night’s win over Wakefield and with Warrington failing to beat Catalans in Perpignan on Saturday, Saints are now confirmed as table toppers with five regular season games still left to play.
It’s Saints’ 8th League Leaders’ Shield in total and we are the first team to retain the League Leaders’ shield since we did so ourselves back in 2008.
We will most likely lift the trophy at our next home game against Castleford Tigers at the Totally Wicked Stadium with tickets now on sale.
Congratulations go to Justin Holbrook and the first team squad who have proven to be the league’s most consistent team and a special mention must also go to the fans that have also backed the club this year!
Club Captain James Roby said: “We are obviously delighted to secure a second League Leaders shield in two years.
“It’s a great reward for our consistency this season, but this is just the start. We now must focus on building on this and continue to pick up the wins ensuring we have momentum heading into the playoffs. We also of course are focused on securing the Challenge Cup in the Final at Wembley in a few weeks time.
“I would personally like to thank our fantastic supporters who’ve been right behind us throughout the year and we hope we can reward them with more trophies this season.”
The directors, coaches, players and staff would like to pay a huge thanks to the fans for your support this season.
The next eight weeks are huge for the club and we now need you all more than ever.
