Academy Tour Day 15

Read what our boys got up to on Day 15 of their Academy tour of Australia.

With the extended turn around before the last match, today was another light training day, but still a very busy one. As per usual it was up for breakfast then on the road early for the ride to Coogee beach.

The boys had a bit of time to ‘catch some rays’ and ‘play in the surf’ before it was back on the bus for a short drive to one of Australia’s most iconic tourist attractions – Bondi Beach.

Once again, the boys relaxed, playing on the beach and in the water, throwing a rugby ball around and generally loving the surroundings. We then made our way over to Campbell Town, for the much anticipated go-kart Grand Prix!

With everyone racing, spinning off, bumping and crashing, the competition was as fierce as ever, but as per usual it was the staff that dominated the podium – Traynor leading the way with Talbot in third with Harvey McDaid sandwiched between them and leading the way for the lads with his 2nd place finish. Special mentions go to Harry Brooks and Kallem Rodgers, who were both equally as painfully slow as each other and Derek Hardman, who was described as ‘he looks like he’s driving a Sunday school bus’.

It was then straight to training on the way home, a light session, mini-skills, speed & agility and a round robin ‘tick & pass’ competition between three randomly picked teams, led by coaches Hardman, Marsh and Talbot. With some dubious refereeing decisions it was ‘Talbot’s Titans’ who took the title!

Dinner at the favourite ‘Outback’ steakhouse on the way home brought an end to another packed day.
