Read what the boys got up to on day 18 of their Academy Tour of Australia as they prepare for their final game against the Penrith Panthers tomorrow.
Day 18…
The day started today with a trip to the NRL merchandise store owned by ex-Parramatta star, Peter Wynn. A few of the boys bought some replica training wear, but it hasn’t been as popular this year as it has on tours gone by.
A tradition of our trips followed when we visited the ‘Dover Heights’ region of Sydney, to have a short training session in a picturesque park that overlooks the harbour – once the scene of a famous Fosters lager television advert!
During the short drive into the city we stopped off at ‘Harry’s Cafe de Wheels’ for a ‘Tiger pie’ for lunch. The tiger pie (a pie of your choice, including Kangaroo covered in mash, mushy peas and gravy!) had one or two of the boys excited, especially Lewis Baxter and Kallem Rodgers.
An opportunity to do some last minute shopping in the city followed and oh how these boys like to shop! Hundreds of dollars have been spent on the latest trainers, Under Armour sports wear, designer clothing, cuddly toys and the odd boomerang as the lads splashed their savings.
Our final training session of the tour followed, once again over at St Mary’s where we completed our pre-match Captains Run session. In the final match of every tour to date we have always played the Penrith Panthers and these have always been our toughest challenges – we expect tomorrow will be no different.
The boys are now fully focused and ready for their final challenge of the 2019 tour!
