Match Preview: Toronto vs Saints

Saints take on Super League newcomers Toronto Wolfpack in the Betfred Super League on Saturday with kick off at 6pm at Warrington's Halliwell Jones Stadium.

We arrive into this one on the back of a hard fought defeat in the Betfred World Club Challenge last weekend. Prior to that we opened our 2020 account with an impressive victory over Salford before falling to defeat against Warrington at Saturday’s venue. We bounced straight back with a victory over high-flying Hull FC and Kristian Woolf’s men will be hoping for another similar performance tonight.

Toronto are yet to secure a win in 2020, but they impressed in their last outing at the same venue in round four against a strong Warrington side who managed to break free in the dying minutes to claim victory.

Friendships will be put on hold for 80 minutes at Halliwell Jones Stadium, with several Wolfpack squad members having also spent time in the Red Vee of St.Helens throughout their careers. Jon Wilkin is the longest serving of the group with over 400 games to his name as a Saint. Wilkin is expected to take his place in the side after delaying minor knee surgery. After five seasons with St Helens, inaugural Wolfpack player Andrew Dixon will be another looking to make use of his experience gathered from inside the four walls of the Saints.
