Each day whilst we are all in Lockdown this week we will recall a famous match from the current day thanks to Saints Heritage Society.
3 APRIL 2012
Huddersfield Giants coach and former St. George hooker Nathan Brown is appointed by St. Helens on a two-year contract, beginning at the end of the year.
Brown had led Huddersfield to a Challenge Cup Final in 2009 and was to turn his attentions to St.Helens a few years later.
In his first season “Brownie” guided St Helens to 5th place in Super League. However, we were defeated 11-10 by Leeds Rhinos in the play-offs stage of the competition.
But Brown went one better a year later in 2014 as he led the Club to 19 wins and the League Leaders Shield before Grand final glory after an injury-hit rollercoaster campaign.
The 14-6 defeat of rivals Wigan at Old Trafford ended a six-year wait for silverware before Brown left the club to return home days later.
