On This Day: Saints beat Castleford at Anfield on Magic Weekend – 2019

Super League Magic Weekend: St. Helens 36-16 Castleford Tigers at Anfield.

It was a memorbale day at Anfield this time last year as we restored our six-point lead at the top of the table with a fine victory over Castleford which saw seven tries scored by seven different Saints…

Saints quickly took control with first-half tries from Tommy Makinson, Regan Grace, Jonny Lomax and Theo Fages.

Grant Millington scored for Cas, while Jack Ashworth went in under the sticks to extend Saints’ lead after half-time.

Lachlan Coote and Kevin Naiqama also crossed for Saints, with Chris Clarkson and Greg Eden running in late replies.

St Helens: Coote; Makinson, Naiqama, Costello, Grace; Lomax, Fages; Walmsley, Roby, Lees, Taia, Peyroux, Knowles.

Replacements: Paulo, Ashworth, Smith, Bentley.
