Talented young half back Lewis Dodd admitted his St.Helens debut was "the best feeling in the world", but insists he is keen to continue his development, learning from the likes of Jonny Lomax, Lachlan Coote and Theo Fages.
Dodd was set to make his long-awaited debut a few weeks ago as Saints faced Hull KR only to unfortunately come into contact with someone with Covid-19 so had to self-isolate just hours before the game.
But to the delight of Dodd and Saints fans who know his potential, the 18 year old finally made his Saints bow shortly before the hour mark of Tuesday’s victory over Wigan Warriors, replacing captain James Roby at hooker.
And Dodd who scored 21 tries in 25 appearances for the Academy side last season, admitted it was a dream come true and that learning off the experienced Saints half’s is a “blessing”.
Hear more from Dodd on Saints TV where the youngster paid tribute to the staff and players who helped him come through the disappointment of missing out the first time around, talks about training at hooker in the week, coming up against some old Academy enemies on Tuesday and his hopes for the future.
