NRL Finals: When Saints beat Penrith….

As the NRL Finals kick off, we look back to 2013 when our Saints Academy did the business against Preliminary Finalists, Penrith Panthers, who had the likes of hat-trick hero Nathan Cleary, in their Penrith Junior ranks.

Saints showed remarkable spirit to come from behind and beat Penrith 20-12 in their final match of their Australian Tour back in 2013 at the Pepper Stadium.

Former Saint Danny Richardson scored a hat-trick whilst Matt Flemming added a brace.

The game was tied 4-4 at half time, but in typical Saints fashion, the boys came back twice – from 4-8 and 8-12 down – to secure the victory.

Penrith’s Man of the Match that day? Nathan Cleary.

Former Saints first teamer Ricky Bailey played at full back with the likes of Liam Cooper in the back row.

Current Saints Aaron Smith played at nine with Morgan Knowles at Loose Forward.
