Saints youngsters sign extended deals

Josh Eaves, Tom Nisbet, Nico Rizzelli and Sam Royle have all signed extended one year deals at the Club.

Hooker Eaves played once in 2020, scoring a try in the narrow defeat to Salford earlier this season. In total the 23-year-old has played three times for Saints and will hope to make more appearances in the Red Vee after signing a one year extension to his contract.

Nisbet, a winger or full back, made his debut against Salford and was so close to winning the game for Saints only to unfortunately lose the ball when grounding. Tom aged 21, will hope to get more opportunities next year as he signs an extension.

Rizzelli joined Nisbet in making his debut on the wing and impressed against Salford. The 20 year old signed from Rochdale Mayfield and will provide competition for places both out wide and in the centre.

Royle, 20, is a second rower and another who has signed a one year extension. He is yet to make his first team debut, but was crowned Academy Player of the Year in 2019 and will hope to get an opportunity to impress in 2021.

Head Coach Kristian Woolf said: “It has been a tough year for these men. They have trained with us all year and been a big part of our preparation and success you see on Friday night.

“Some of these blokes have played one game all year since March which is tough, but they have helped us get that success so this is a reward for their attitude and work ethic they have shown and the qualities they have shown all year in tough circumstances.”

“They have shown they are ready and we are looking forward to those blokes progressing into playing into some more first grade for us next year.”
