Each week we will be showcasing community clubs. This week we introduce Portico Vine ARLFC!
Portico Vine was founded in 1974 and their home is on Scholes Lane, St Helens, Merseyside, WA10 3PD.
Billy Vaughan, Vice Chairman of portico says: “Portico Vine Rugby League Club is a family club who has the community at the heart of everything we do. We are a totally inclusive club who holds no barriers to gender or religious beliefs and operate an equal opportunities policy. We promote happiness & laughter as it is more important to us that our children remain happy and wanted.
“It’s not Super League it’s amateur rugby league, our club ethos believes that every child has the right to shine regardless of their ability
“We currently have 11 teams ranging from U7s to U18s we also have a dedicated girls team year 6 – 11 although girls are encouraged to play in all teams. we are currently recruiting at all age groups and welcome everyone with open arms.
“All of our volunteers are DBS checked and we have our own dedicated Child welfare Team who are always on hand to listen and advise anyone who may require guidance.
“We meet for training sessions on either Tuesdays Wednesdays or Thursdays training times vary and contact details for all age groups can be found on our website.
“If you feel you may want to be apart of our happy family please visit us at Scholes Lane. Come and just look & listen, have a cup of coffee & chat to our volunteers you don’t have to commit but you will be welcomed and you will be impressed.
“Our volunteers have revamped our clubhouse they have done an incredible job with the refurbishment. Our facilities are better than ever and we are about to extend our clubhouse giving us even more facilities and we are a club that has a dream and our dream knows no boundaries.
