HIGHLIGHTS – Subscribers can watch the FULL game on Saints TV.

REPORT

Prop, Noah Stevens, whose extra speed made the difference early on, carried twice in the set, the second time being held up over the line, and from the play the ball Will Roberts shifted play right for Harvey Braddish to put Ben Will in at the corner with a great shoot ball.

Five minutes later Daniel Walsh was denied a try on the left after bouncing the ball over the line.

The Saints defence was confining the Wolves to kicking from their own half giving the Saints great field position. On the next set Jamaine Carty broke through the Wolves defensive line going 20 metres to the fullback before feeding the impressive Roberts to go the final 20 under the posts.

He converted his own try as he did Sam Oakes’ as the Saints went back-to-back. Noah Stephens broke down the middle, fed Roberts in support who in turn found Oakes to break a tackle on his way over.

Just before the break Walsh again had a try taken away as he knocked on with the line at his mercy.

The second half was much the same with the Saints again spurning chances. It was fully 15 minutes before the scoreboard got ticking again.

Jake Bloxham and Sinclair drove to the line and from the play the ball it was moved left with Roberts and Max McGucken committing their opposite number before freeing Dayon Sambou to dive over in the corner.

The icing on the cake came with two great tries in the final two minutes. First Braddish, now operating on the left wing, took Roberts’ miss pass to go over.

Then a sweeping 60 metre move saw Walsh finally get his try. On the last Roberts saw a yawning gap behind the beleaguered Wolves’ line and chipped into it. He regathered his own kick passed it left to Zac Marsden then on to McGucken whose shoot ball put Walsh in. Roberts’ touchline conversion was the cherry on top!
