Young Saints forward Matty Foster's year has ended with another significant injury after he suffered an ACL injury at Magic Weekend playing for the Leigh Centurions.
Foster broke his jaw on the opening weekend of Super League while on loan at Leigh and has unfortunately been ruled out again for a long period after injuring his Anterior Cruciate Ligament which requires surgery.
Head Coach Kristian Woolf told the St Helens Star in a recent interview: “It is unfortunate for Matty and he will need a fairly extensive recovery from surgery. He has had such a tough year.”
“Unfortunately, in trying to get him games he has had an extended period out with a broken jaw and now this injury.
“He has had a really tough year and our team are really going to rally behind him and make sure he gets support.
“He is a really good kid, too, who cares about his footy and his position at the club and wants to improve.
“He is a bloke you want to see have success for those reasons.
“Hopefully he can get a good run after this and be injury free for a little while because he has a lot of potential.”
Everyone at the Saints wishes Matty the best of luck in his recovery.
