Regan Grace is named in the 21 man squad for the first time this season as boss Kristian Woolf prepares his team for Saturday's Betfred Challenge Cup clash with Whitehaven live on the Sportsman.com at 2pm.
Grace features for the first time after surgery on a bicep injury in the off-season. Joe Batchelor also returns to the squad after missing the defeat in France due to the concussion protocols.
Josh Simm misses out given Grace’s return as does Matty Lees who picked up an injury against Toulouse. Woolf was hopeful Lees would be fit enough to play, but he hasn’t recovered in time.
The boss also praised James Bell after his impressive showing at Leigh on dual-registration, but Woolf admitted yesterday he did return with a slight shoulder injury and that is the reason he misses Saturday’s Challenge Cup clash.
On Bell, Woolf told saintsrlfc.com: “With a number of injuries in the squad, Saturday’s Challenge Cup game would have been the perfect opportunity for Bell to make his debut for us, but unfortunately that can’t happen this week.”
Will Hopoate, Alex Walmsley and Sione Mata’utia are still out through injury with the boss also shedding light on the former in yesterday’s weekly press conference.
