Saints got off to a strong start with an impressive 40-metre effort from Ben Davies from a scrum. Martyn unable to convert, 4-0.
The fast pace of Saints’ attack continued to cause Wakefield problems, as Shay Martyn scored two tries in 5 minutes, converting one, 16-0.
However, as the match progressed the visitors found their feet, with ex Saint Lee Gaskell creating a number of opportunities. The first of those was a break through our defence, creating a two v one with the fullback, putting Robbie Butterworth through to score underneath the sticks. 16-6.
Gaskell continued to have a big influence on the game as winger Lewis Murphy scored two tries in quick succession to make it 16-14 at the break.

After the break Wakefield came out firing, gaining the ball back off the kick-off resulting in Harry Bowes scooting over from a few metres out. 16-20.
As the second half progressed, both teams were unable to gain any momentum until Saints knocked on in their own 20 metre, providing an opportunity for the visitors to extend their lead late on. Trinity took advantage of the overlap through Lewis Murphy in the left corner, completing his hattrick. 16-24.
With 10 minutes to go, Saints was unable to respond and Trinity sealed their win with a Issac Shaw try to the right of the sticks, Butterworth converting, 16-30.
Overall, a disappointing performance for Saints Reserves, but we will look to bounce back on the 14th May against Salford Red Devils.
Thank you to all spectators that came down to The Totally Wicked Stadium t.
