Sione Mata'utia has been banned for three matches following his sending off on Friday night, whilst Morgan Knowles has also picked up a one match suspension. Jack Welsby has been charged with a Grade A offence, but escapes a ban.
Mata’utia was sent to the bin on 17 minutes after he was deemed to try and pick Danny Levi off the floor following a tackle in our 25-0 victory over Huddersfield Giants on Friday.
The allegation in the Match Review Panel minutes states Sione has been charged with a Grade C “other Contrary Behaviour” – “lifting an injured player”. He has since been given a 3 match penalty notice.
He is set to miss our away trips to Wakefield and Salford and a home clash with Castleford Tigers on Sunday 7th August live on Channel 4.
Knowles will also miss Sunday’s trip to Wakefield after he was charged with a Grade A “late hit on the passer” in the 46th minute.
Welsby is the third Saint to be charged. He has been penalised for a Grade A late hit on Theo Fages in the first minute of the game, but received a 0 match penalty notice and is therefore available to face Trinity on Sunday.
