Saints Reserves fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of Wigan at Robin Par Arena on Saturday afternoon.

It was Saints that started strongly in the hands of full back Ben Lane who went over following an Ellis Archer pass. Shay Martyn’s conversion was successful. 0-6 we led early in the derby.
However, the hosts was quick to respond and took the advantage with two tries in four minutes. Alex Sutton and Junior Nsemba scoring with both conversions unsuccessful from O’Keefe. 8-6 we trailed.
Wigan extended their advantage with an 80 metre effort break away try by half back Logan Astley in support. O’Keefe wa successful with the conversion. 14-6.
Half way through the first half, Saints Rio Corkill broke through and found Lewis Baxter in support to go over underneath the sticks. Martyn converted. 14-10.
After an eventful first 20 minutes, the teams looked evenly matched as the ‘arm wrestle’ continued. But it was Wigan who went in ahead at the break after two tries in as many minutes from Toby Brannon and Alex Sutton.

Following the two quick tries at the end of the first half, Wigan carried the momentum over after the break as Logan Astley scored his second try of the afternoon. O’Keefe conversion successful. 30-12.
Wigan found further success down their left attacking side with Reagan Sutton scoring, then just 5 minutes later Ellis Hobson added to their advantage touching down from a grubber kick. O’Keefe was successful with the first conversion, but missed the second. 40-12.
With just over ten minutes left of the game, Jacob Douglas won the award for the games’ stand-out try after he went the full length of the field, beating four Saints defenders. O’Keefe’s conversion was unsuccessful. 44-12.
In the dying seconds Junior Nsemba touched down for the final score of the game, taking Wigan to the 50-point mark. O’Keefe’s conversion was successful. 50-12 the full time score.
