Saints clinch 2022 League Leaders’ Shield

Saints have won the Betfred Super League, League Leaders' Shield for the first time since 2019.

Despite a young Saints team losing out to Wakefield 18-34 this afternoon, Wigan’s defeat away at Hull KR means Saints are now confirmed as League Leaders’ Shield winners.

It’s Saints’ 9th League Leaders’ Shield in total exactly 20 years on since the first time we won it in 2002.

The presentation of the trophy will take place at our last regular season home game of the season against Toulouse on Saturday 3 September, 3pm kick off. Click here for tickets.

Congratulations go to Kristian Woolf and his first team squad who despite a host of injuries, have proven to be the league’s most consistent team and a special mention must also go to the fans that have also backed the club this year!

Club Captain James Roby said: “We are really pleased to have secured the League Leaders’ shield.

“It’s a great reward for our consistency this season, but we know the big prize is at the end of the season. Our focus is on building on this success and ensure we head into the Semi Final with momentum.

“I would personally like to thank our fans who’ve been right behind us throughout the year and we hope we can reward them with that record breaking Super League Grand Final.”

The Club directors, coaches, players and staff would like to pay a huge thanks to the fans for your support this season.
