Saints reveal Academy recruits for 2023

St Helens R.F.C. is delighted to announce the latest Academy signings from the 2022 scholarship program who were all introduced to the Totally Wicked Stadium crowd during half-time of our youthful Saints clash with Wakefield on Monday.

A group of nine players were announced to the Saints faithful having impressed coaches Derek Traynor and Neil Kilshaw in the Scholarship side this year.

The youngsters will all hope to now take that next step in their development in next season’s Academy, who this Saturday finished top of the ladder, securing the League Leaders’ Shield and set up a home semi-final against Hull FC with details to be revealed in due course.

The graduates who will take the step up to the Academy next season are:

  • George Whitby – Scrum Half – Blackbrook Royals
  • Daniel Frost – Prop – Blackbrook Royals
  • Cole Marsh – Hooker – Blackbrook Royals
  • Owen Dagnall – Centre – Halton Farnworth Hornets.
  • Harry Robertson – Fullback – Halton Farnworth Hornets.
  • Louis Roberts – Fullback – Leigh Miners Rangers
  • Jake Davies – Back-rower – Halton Farnworth Hornets.
  • Ellis Anderson – Centre – Leigh Miners
  • Deacon Swarsbrick – Back-rower – Chorley Panthers & Ashton Bears

Saints Performance Manager, Neil Kilshaw said: “The players have worked their way through an extremely difficult scholarship programme and their efforts and talents have seen them rewarded with a place in the Academy for the next two seasons.

“We are excited about continuing to work with them and hopefully seeing them progress onto the big stage just as the likes of Morgan Knowles, Jack Welsby & Lewis Dodd are doing now.”

We are all looking forward to seeing these boys develop over the coming years.
