Knowles handed two match suspension ahead of Grand Final

As things stand, Morgan Knowles is set to miss the Betfred Super League Grand Final after being charged with a Grade B offence and handed a two match suspension following our victory over Salford Red Devils.

The RFL Match Review Panel reviewed an incident which occurred in approximately the 24th minute which saw Knowles sent to the sin bin after contact with Salford’s Chris Atkin.

The Match Review Panel [MRP] has since charged Knowles with a Grade B “dangerous contact” offence and given him a two match penalty notice, meaning as things stand he is set to miss Saturday’s Super League Grand Final against Leeds Rhinos at Old Trafford.

The Club will be appealing the charge with the hearing set for Tuesday.

Jack Welsby was also charged with a Grade A high tackle which was deemed “careless” rather than reckless, with the MRP stating that the “ball carrier dips” before contact. Given Jack’s previous positive disciplinary record, he has been charged with a 0 match penalty notice and is free to play in Saturday’s Grand Final.

Captain James Roby was also cautioned for a dangerous contact offence and is free to play.
