Saints squad news for home opener

Head Coach Paul Wellens has named his 21-man squad for St Helens first home game of the Betfred Super League season against Leeds Rhinos, which kicks off on Friday night at the Totally Wicked Stadium at 8pm.

It will be an occasion to remember as the World Club Champions come home to play their first home competitive league fixture in over five months. The last league game at the Totally Wicked Stadium was the semi-final against Salford last September, as we booked our spot at Old Trafford. At the Theatre of Dreams, we secured a fourth-straight Super League title with a victory over Friday night’s opponents, Leeds Rhinos.

St Helens are seeking to keep a strong recent run of wins going over the West Yorkshire side, as the Saints have won the last twelve meetings of the two rugby league giants. Furthermore, Paul Wellen’s men got our domestic season off to a strong start last Sunday, with an away victory against Castleford Tigers.

There is just the one change from the last round with Lewis Baxter stepping out of the squad and star winger Tommy Makinson back in the squad declaration after missing out on last week due to head injury protocols following the World Club Challenge.

A home sell-out crowd is edging ever closer for the Grand Final rematch!

The action on the field will be the main event of an unmissable matchday experience, a spectacular light show, alternate rock band Riverstone performing live in the West Stand, our biggest pre-match pyrotechnics at a match yet, AND the World Club Challenge trophy being on display!

If you’ve not yet got your tickets yet… what are you waiting for?!

IMPORTANT TICKET INFORMATION

With a big crowd expected there will be no ‘Pay at the gate’ option on game day and the Ticket Office at The Totally Wicked Stadium is expected to be highly busy for both Ticket and Membership Card pick-ups.

We advise supporters who have not yet picked up their Membership Cards to try to do so before Friday. The Club is also advising fans who have not secured match tickets yet to do so in advance to avoid disappointment!
