Our Academy team begins their 2023 Under 18s Academy Championship this Saturday hosting London Broncos at Ruskin Sports Facility, with kick-off at 12:30pm!
The young Saints have a twelve-match regular season before the play-offs begin, with the goal in mind to go one better than last year after making it all the way to the Academy Grand Final but falling short in a dramatic Golden Point loss to Leeds Rhinos.
The 2023 Academy team has been bolstered by the addition of nine of our Saints Scholarship players who impressed Academy Head Coach Derek Traynor, and the Red V’s Performance, Welfare & Education Manager Neil Kilshaw in our Under 16s side.
St Helens has a proud history of developing young talent and having those players feature for the First Team, with 19 of our 2023 First Team squad coming through our Academy.
In our historic World Club Challenge victory in February 2023, eight of our matchday squad came through our club ranks, including our starting spine of Jack Welsby, Jonny Lomax, Lewis Dodd, and the legendary James Roby.
The Club hopes to see many of our 2023 Academy team continue their progression and become established stars such as Morgan Knowles, Matty Lees, or Tommy Makinson to name just three more of our proud Academy products.

It promises to be another exciting season for our Under 18s, with 2023 Members getting entry to all matches played at the Totally Wicked Stadium for FREE!
