Paul Wellens has selected his 21-man squad for this Friday’s home Betfred Super League fixture against Hull FC, which kicks off at the Totally Wicked Stadium at 8pm.
Friday’s game is Round Five in the league, but the first leg of The Steve Prescott Cup which is contested annually between the Saints and the Black & Whites in honour of the late great Steve Prescott, who played for both clubs with distinction.
Saints are looking to get back to winning ways after back-to-back late losses against Leeds a fortnight ago, then away Leigh last Friday. Hull FC have also suffered two defeats on the spin, away at Catalans two weeks ago, followed by a demoralising home loss to Salford Red Devils, 14-60, on Saturday afternoon.
The Red V hold a strong recent record over Hull FC winning the last fourteen meetings between the two, only six of which have been played at home.
Wellens welcomes back into his squad declaration back-rower Curtis Sironen after serving his one-match penalty notice. Lewis Baxter moves out of the 21-man team, but Wesley Bruines stays in and if selected will make his senior competitive debut for the Saints.
Sione Mata’utia and Konrad Hurrell will be available for selection for next Thursday’s match against Huddersfield Giants after completing their match penalty notices.
