Head coach Paul Wellens spoke to the press today head of our upcoming Betfred Super League clash against Wakefield Trinity.
Coming off back-to-back wins in the league the Saints are looking to build on what Wellens thought was one of our most energetic performances since Australia, but the Saints boss wants to get some more fluency back into our attack.
Given where Wakefield are positioned in the table, it looks like a game the Champions should get the result in, but Wello knows that it won’t be an easy game. With the Trin looking for their first points this season, that desperation makes them a team that will come to play, and we will have to perform at our best to get a result.
The Head Coach also gave a fitness update, with Sione Mata’utia leaving the field with the first carry of the game he will not be eligible to play due to head injury protocols. Agnatius Paasi has picked up a slight knock to the knee, but he could still make the team for Wakefield, and Mark Percival should be okay to return to match action. Sadly Jake Wingfield picked up an injury last week, but he should be back in contention for the Wigan game next week, whilst Joe Batchelor is still a number of weeks away following ankle surgery.
There was some great news for Matty Foster, who has been rehabilitating a long-term injury, as he has now returned to on-field training, taking part in his first session on Tuesday morning.
