St Helens R.F.C. are proud to sponsor and be part of the rugby league community that has come together to help launch The Daniel Anderson Support Fund to help raise much-needed funds for the former Saints coach.
Anderson began his coaching career at Parramatta’s junior grades in the 1990’s, working his way up to an assistant coaching level in 2000.
He made his head coaching debut at New Zealand Warriors in 2001, taking the club to the most successful period in their history with a maiden grand final berth in 2002, before departing for St Helens.
Daniel led our club to the League Leaders’ Shield on four occasions, three Challenge Cup victories, and a Grand Final win in 2006, completing a historic treble and beating Brisbane Broncos in 2007 to win the World Club Challenge.
Following his final season with the Saints in 2008, Daniel returned to Australia and has worked at Parramatta Eels and more recently with Sydney Roosters in a recruitment role.
Late last year Daniel sadly suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury following a body surfing accident on the NSW Central Coast and is slowly continuing his rehabilitation at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre in Ryde.
The fundraising initiative has been launched to assist Daniel and his family with financial assistance, essential equipment, intensive physiotherapy and home modifications.
On the organization committee is St Helens’ CEO Mike Rush alongside chief executives from the Eels, Roosters, and Warriors, alongside other representatives who will promote events in support of the Daniel Anderson Support Fund.

As part of the Saints’ efforts to assist the fundraising, with much more to come in the near future, very shortly the Club will be auctioning an exclusive half St Helens/half Penrith Panthers shirt. This shirt is signed by all the players who competed in the 2023 World Club Challenge – with all the proceeds going to the fund. Details of this auction will be announced shortly.
