The Club would like to remind supporters that we want to ensure that everyone who comes to enjoy game days at the Totally Wicked Stadium to do so in a safe and friendly environment.
St Helens R.F.C. would like to thank the vast majority of our fans whose support, as always, has been fantastic in 2023 at home and on the road.
On Friday night, over 17,000 supporters came to the Saints’ home ground to enjoy a great occasion, with the Red V recording an impressive victory over our local rivals Wigan Warriors.
The end of the fixture was sadly marred by a 14-year-old male who used a pyrotechnic device in the West Stand which caused distress and led to some supporters requiring medical assistance. As a result of this, this male was quickly identified and is now been banned from entering the Totally Wicked Stadium for a period of three years, as well as all other Super League stadiums with his information passed onto our fellow clubs in the competition.
The Club would like to reiterate to supporters that the use of pyrotechnics is strictly prohibited under both rugby and football ground regulations. They can cause serious injuries to those who carry them as well as fellow spectators, as well as damage to surfaces such as the playing pitch which can cost clubs thousands of pounds.
Our own staff at the Totally Wicked Stadium will do everything in their power to prevent any such device from being brought into our home ground, and any person found in possession of them will be banned from entry to St Helens’ matches, both home and away.
St Helens R.F.C. also operates a zero-tolerance approach to any anti-social behaviour, at both our own home ground and when visiting other clubs’ stadiums. Misbehaviours that will not be tolerated include but are not limited to; physical or verbal abuse, violent conduct, missile throwing, excessive alcohol misuse, and any drug misuse.
The Club during last season and this season has taken preventative actions for home fixtures, with additional stewarding and ‘sniffer’ dog patrols around the stadium. Supporters may have encountered these dog patrols when approaching the stadium and can expect to see them again as we aim to further ensure supporter safety.
With an average home attendance of over 13,000 for the first half of the season, we’re excited and looking forward to welcoming the Saints faithful for our remaining home games in 2023 in a safe and friendly environment.
