Saints head into the game in good form after a dominant home win over Hull KR last time out, backing up the victories over Newcastle, Warrington, Wigan, Huddersfield and London.

Furthermore, six of our Academy players have been named for the England Academy match against France in July – read more here.

For the first time this season, Paul Wellens has named an unchanged 21-man squad. It is the same squad that secured a dominant victory in The Derby over Wigan Warriors last Friday night.

WELLENS ON THE CHALLENGE WE FACE IN HULL

In front of their own fans in a knockout clash, Wellens knows this proves to be a tough task to get into the final four of the Cup.

The Saints boss also provides an update on his squad, including Morgan Knowles who appeared to have a rib issue during last Friday’s match. Furthermore, Paul Wellens discusses his own challenges with selecting the matchday seventeen with the squad looking in a strong position after some injuries earlier in the year.

A LOOK AT HULL FC…

In front of their own home crowd, with a chance to get within one step away from Wembley, and to end a 15-game losing run against St Helens, there is plenty of motivation for Hull FC on Saturday afternoon.

The Black & Whites have begun to click though under new Head Coach for 2023 Tony Smith, who joined the club after his time at Hull KR ended during last season. Taking over from Brett Hodgson who was relieved of his duties at the end of 2022 following what was a dismal second half of the campaign.

Following back-to-back victories to start this season, a disastrous run of seven defeats followed for Hull FC leaving many of their supporters concerned their many heavy defeats of recent years was a trend they could not break. But Smith’s philosophy appears to be sinking in more with the squad as the year rolls on. A run of four wins on the spin helped, including their Round Six win over Castleford to get to the quarter-finals.

The Airlie Birds’ performance of the season so far came at Magic Weekend when they cruised past high-flying Warrington, 30-18.

In 2023, FC’s squad has been bolstered by key spine additions such as fullback Tex Hoy, as well as two half-back options in Jake Trueman and Jake Clifford, but the later of which will miss out this Cup game due to concussion protocols.

The Saints have already faced Hull FC this year back in March, it was a defensive battle between the two sides which Paul Wellens’ men saw out with a win, 20-12.
